UNBASKET Fund
In 2022/2021, ASWHAN in collaboration with UNAIDS implemented the UNBasket Project in 15 states. The project was implemented through 4 pillars namely, Contact tracing and active case find and event-based community surveillance, Sensitization, awareness raising, and mobilization for GBV, FGM and COVID-19 prevention, Removal of Barriers to accessing PMTCT and EID Services and Monitoring, Evaluation and Telling The Story.
The goal of the UNBasket fund was to provide Cash transfer to 10,000 households, provision of hygiene protective supplies, Social mobilization and awareness raising, about COVID 19 and associated protection risks for women and girls (GBV, HIV etc)
Through community Engagement using the state platforms, women at the community/LGA level sensitized members of the PLHIV community, key populations and Women and children about GBV, FGM and COVID-19, educated members of the population on hygiene practices to safeguard and protect families in the period of the COVID 19 pandemic, Created awareness on current HIV services, COVID-19 services as well as available help for GBV related matters, capacity building for 120 mentor mothers within support group for uptake of ANC/PMTCT services, Mobilized and educated newly diagnosed HIV positive pregnant women as well as baby-mother pairs on living with HIV and the opportunities for preventing mother to child transmission of HIV including community referrals, Follow up on baby-mother pairs on follow up care and for early infant diagnosis of HIV exposed infants Built the capacities of 120 women living with HIV to improve HIV testing through social mobilization activities and Experience sharing of success stories and best practices.
